The Club held this Summer tournament on 27th August. The title was derived from the fact that the openings played were all double-named.

THE TWO OF US

The next Hull Chess Club Summer Event will take place on 27th August and is entitled

THE 2 OF US

Once more this will be a simple 5 round Swiss tournament starting at 7.30pm.

Hopefully there will be more than 2 of us there.

Entries are now being taken for the Hull Chess Club Championship featuring Championship, Major Intermediate and Minor.
Once more it will be run as a 6 round swiss tournament.

NOAH'S ARK TOURNAMENT


In the latest Summer tournament at the club, 10 players took part in the Noahs Ark tournament.

Rounds were:-

1. Elephant Gambit (All 5 games were wins for Black)
2. Lobster Gambit
3. Bullfrog Gambit
4. Kangaroo Defence
5. Porcupine

CLUB AGM REPORT

The Hull Chess Club AGM saw president Eric Fisher having to step down due to pressure of work. He was succeeded as president by John Scotter with Brian Barrett being elected into the role of Vice President.

John Bycroft and Bryan Hesler continue in their posts of treasurer and secretary.

Tournament dates were set as follows

Lightning tournament 1st October
Christmas party 17th December
Pairs tournament 25th February
5 minute tournament 27th May

All of these tournaments are Open tournaments.

The next summer tournament will be held Friday 30th July and entitled NOAHS ARK

SCOTTER WINS !

Friday 16th July saw John Bycroft present his tribute to Philp Larkin with a tournament based arounds Larkins poem A Whitsuns Wedding.

The Hull Chess Club held its annual Lightning tournament, 18 players took part with John Bycroft winning with 4.5 points from the 5 rounds played.

A REMINDER


The Hull Chess Club Lightning Tournament will take place on 28th May at the Newland Christian Centre 7.30 start.

This will be a 5 round swiss tournament and will be the first tournament in this years summer jamboree.


This tournament is open to all
