NEW CLASS DETAILS
The Monday Driffield class moved over to the new Boxing Gym on Eastgate North on Monday 16th August.
For the time being the Thursday class will stay at the School Gym.
The unit is fully carpeted, has a matted area and a full sized boxing ring plus a good number of bags.
Work is still ongoing to finish off the changing room and storage area but its looking good so far.

CHANGES TO ROLES OF COMMITTEE
Following the renewal of our club and coaching insurances , Craig has taken over as Chief Instructor. Stephen will remain as a coach with the club working mainly with the coaching team ensuring the grading progression of all our students. As such he will not be taking regular classes. In addition Stephen will remain as Secretary pending finding a replacement who is willing to assume responsibility for the web-site, club administration etc.
We wish Craig well in this new role which reflects the fact that Craig has effectively been the figure-head for the last few years and is by far the most well known face in the community.
Craig will be supported by Ben and Colin who continue to provide an invaluable service to the club.

REPORT FROM TREASURER
Details of the club’s operational account are available for any member to view. Please speak to Craig or request a hard copy of the meeting minutes from Stephen.

REPORT FROM CHAIRMAN
The club currently has 42 members down from 63 last year. This decrease is due in part to the move to the new gym and a perception that the club is now focussing on the fighters to the expense of the Pad circuit trainees and the full Thai syllabus. Though there has been an increased commitment to build our fight team we do not want to do this at the cost of losing other members and over the next year the focus will return to grading progress and technical development, which is central to our constitutional aims.
To this end, Craig will look at moving one class a week back to the school as this seemed to suit many of our members better, if possible on a Wednesday night.

OTHER BUSINESS
We will continue to monitor the numbers training over the next few months. If numbers do not increase (hopefully the drop in numbers since Christmas was due to the bad weather?) we will reduce the sessions available to one per week and look at alternative provision for coaches and fighters. We would like to replace some of our older equipment which is showing signs of wear, such as small kick pads and leather Thai pads. Craig will source these in the next few weeks.

With the long awaited introduction of the UKCC through our NGB due this year (though it was due last summer) the cost of putting all our coaches through the units will be a major drain on our resources. When the exact costing is clear we will apply to ERSCA for grant funding to help.

All club coaches will update their CRB clearance and the club will renew the ERSCA membership in view of the possible move back to hiring council premises.

NEXT MEETING
NEAREST THURSDAY TO THE 26th OF FEB 2011

SHORTS! AT LAST!
We have finally recieved the shipment of shorts from Thailand. Can any members still without shorts, t-shirt etc please speak to Craig as soon as possible, so that we can guage the stock situation and reorder if neccesary. We still have a number of t-shirts but will need to order a new batch soon so if we don't have your size we can remedy that pretty quickly.

SIGNING IN
Can we ensure that everyone signs in before the lesson starts?
Not only is it annoying to have to chase up students who have not paid for the session it also means we are in breach of our insurance and hire conditions. In case of an emergency we must have a complete list of everyone in the gym.
I will be speaking to individuals who have made a habit of leaving payments until the end of the lesson. Please note even if you have prepaid or need to IOU the lesson we still need to register you on the night.

ARE YOU TRAINING ENOUGH?
Most experts agree that you need to be training at least three times a week to see an improvement in your physical fitness and also in sports specific skills.
These three sessions will best be utilised by focusing on skills, practice and attributes. For our members that fits in with the Monday class (for learning new skills), the Wednesday session for practising those skills) and the Saturday Fighters / Conditioning class with Ben (to develop the fitness required to apply those skills).
There will be students who already have their own routines set up (Gym work, sparring with friends etc) and that's great. However, anyone who is not getting three sessions in every week should seriously think about stepping up their workload and getting along to all the sessions we provide.
