Very few Grassroots teams ever get on to the hallowed Wembley pitch let alone play a game there.
This did not apply to the U10's of North Ferriby Utd who did both not to mention meeting the all-time great Geoff Hurst who himself lit up the old Wembley with a hat-trick in a never to be forgotten World Cup Final

NFU IN A DAY TO REMEMBER !
North Ferriby United U10s girl’s team were invited to the National Football Festival at Wembley last week. I have attached a team picture taken with Sir Geoff Hurst.
Team list from Picture Left to right:
Anna King, Ruby-Ema Parr, Evie Barnes-Blondell, Georgia Oliver, Alice Stewart, Abbie Thompson, Georgia Cook, Georgia Edwards, Jasmine Lacey and Elizabeth Lee.
After receiving the invitation we decided to make a trip of it and booked tickets to watch England v Hungary the night before – the girls had a great night and the thought of playing on the hallowed turf the next day got them very excited.
The next morning we arrived at the training facility where top class coaching sessions were available from Eric Harrison (former Manchester United Youth Coach, who passed on tips to the likes of Beckham, Giggs and Scholes). The morning session also included three tournament matches. North Ferriby U10 girls played some great football against some good UK wide opposition, they won all 3 matches – 3-0, 3-0 and 5-0. Goals scored by Evie Barnes-Blondell 6, Elizabeth Lee 2, Georgia Edwards, Alice Stewart and Georgia Cook.
For the afternoon session the girls moved onto Wembley Stadium, entering the ground via the players tunnel – it was a dream come true for the girls and you could see the excitement all over their faces. The girls were lucky enough to meet, Michael Owen, Trevor Brooking and Sir Geoff Hurst.
The girls played one match on the Wembley pitch against Molesley Juniors from Surrey – it was a tough match but the girls got a deserved breakthrough and won the match 1-0 – a goal scored and never to be forgotten by Evie Barnes-Blondell. The day was capped off when the girls walked up to the royal box to receive their medals.
