The Humberside County Bowling Website has been formed to give information on History, Rules/Laws of the Game, as well as Grants to apply for, Fund Raising Ideas, Insurance, Bowling News and advice on what to look for in equipment when starting out.
This website also contains dates and information on forthcoming bowling events as well as 'links' to other bowling websites!
Also included are links to Crown Green, Short Mat & Carpet Bowls. I hope that the information is useful to you all.

As you can see in the picture, the game of 'Bowls' is slightly different today than when Sir Francis Drake played the game with his ship's cannon balls whilst waiting for the Spanish Fleet in the 16th Century! Some evidence points to a type of game like ours going back to the Egyptions!

THE ATMOSPHERE:

Television is a wonderful medium in which to project the game, but there is nothing like actually taking part in a match or even attending the world championships as a spectator with the atmosphere and excellent company that this game seems to attract!
